An Athens hotel for a family of five: connecting rooms near the Acropolis

Most Athens family rooms stop at four. For two adults and three kids, you want one booking that sleeps five without splitting the family across floors. This is the one we found that does, and why two apartments people often recommend do not work for five on Expedia.

Why connecting rooms suit two adults and three kids

The setup gives the parents one room and the kids the other, with a door between them, so a younger child who wakes at night is a few steps away. The sofa bed in the mix is the one to check: ask the hotel in writing who sleeps where, since an older teenager needs a real bed more than a small child does. The hotel has a roof garden with Acropolis views, and the breakfast buffet covers the first meal for different appetites.

Plaka and Kolonaki are described by the hotel as within walking distance. Our Athens with kids guide has a 3-day plan that fits this area, and the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum guided tour on GetYourGuide is the editor's pick for day one.

Why not the Herodion apartment or the AthensWas suite?

Both are on our Athens family hotels list and both suit families on their own terms. For a group of five, the booking details matter.

Herodion Family Apartment. The hotel's own booking page lists 100 m² for up to six guests. When we searched Expedia for five travelers in one room, Herodion returned no room that fits them, so book that apartment through the hotel's official page.

AthensWas Hellenic Grand Suite. The hotel lists 110 m², two bedrooms, three bathrooms and five guests, and notes that this suite is available only for direct bookings. Expedia did not return a room for five at AthensWas, so use the hotel's direct reservation page.

Before you book

Compare the nightly rate with taxes for your dates, the cancellation option and the bed setup. Ask Electra Metropolis to confirm the connecting rooms and the sleeping plan in writing. Prices and availability change daily and are shown only on the Expedia listing.
