A cooking class can make a good change from a beach day, but 'rainy-day activity' is too broad a label. Smiley Cook in Bophut says its cooking area is covered and includes a market tour. Those two parts should not be treated as equally sheltered. Its direct website is a useful starting point for understanding the experience, even before a booking platform is chosen.
What the operator publishes
Smiley Cook describes a two-hour cooking class with four dishes and a dessert, a market visit of about 30 minutes and a group of up to 8. Classes are taught in English. The listed price is 2,100 baht per person cooking. A non-cooking companion is listed at 1,300 baht including the market visit and food. These are website prices, not a confirmed date quote.
Pickup has a boundary
The site lists free hotel transfers in Mae Nam, Bophut, Plai Laem, Choen Mon and Chaweng. That does not prove that every hotel outside those areas is included. Give the operator your actual hotel and ask for a pickup time and any surcharge before paying. Transfer time is not included in the published two-hour cooking duration.
Children: free entry is not cooking permission
The operator lists children under 5 as free of charge. That statement does not establish whether a child can handle knives or cook beside a hot pan. Ask which tasks your child's age can join, whether an adult must supervise and whether a companion ticket is needed. Discuss allergies and substitutions before booking rather than treating a vegetarian review as an allergy policy.
The rain and cancellation checks
The covered cooking area is verified from the operator's wording; the market route is not. Ask whether the market visit can be skipped or changed in heavy rain. We have not verified the cancellation terms or current date availability. Check that the class and pickup area match the activity you want before booking.

Prefer to book through a platform? GetYourGuide lists a different class, not Smiley Cook: a three-hour Koh Samui Thai cooking class with market tour from the operator Oh-Hoo. The listing (checked 8 October 2026) includes hotel pickup and free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. Check dates and your pickup area before paying.
